The winners of the May 30th, 1999 Brass Monkey Singer Songwriter Competition Provincial Finals were 
 1st Place - Lindsay Jane from Calgary 
2nd Place - Mitchell Hayes from Calgary 
 3rd Place - Joel Kroeker from Edmonton 
4th Place - Thaneah from Edmonton 

 The  winners of the May 23rd, 1999 Singer Songwriter Competition in Edmonton: 

1st place - Joel Kroeker won a Recording session at BETA 
w/ Jerry Woolsey, tape duplication from Storm & layout by Ingeniuse
2nd place - Thaneah won a Yamaha MT400 4-Track Recorder from Mother's Music 
3rd place - Jim Malmberg won a Photo shoot with Ellis Brothers Photography 
and & bio from Ramparts Entertainment 
 4th place - Ahlia won tuition to the Grant MacEwan Community College's 
Summer Vocal, Guitar or Drum Workshop

This competition was first run at
Courtney Blake's Restaurant & Bar on Whyte Avenue in 1993.
One of the managers at the time, Mike Purcell,
has since been managing Blues on Whyte in the Commercial Hotel.
At his request a second competition was organized in 1997 and a third in 1998.
The fourth annual competition was held concurrently
at Blues on Whyte in Edmonton & KAOS in Calgary
with the Grand Provincial Final being held at Blues on Whyte.
